Recruiting from Scratch is a software-driven technical recruiting firm. We help venture-backed startups and public technology companies hire exceptional software, AI, and product talent.

This is a fully remote, full-time role for candidates based in the United States.

What you will do

We are hiring an Agency Recruiter (Software) to run software engineering searches alongside senior recruiters, learn how great technical searches are built, and grow into owning searches end to end.

• Source and engage software engineers through targeted outbound, referrals, and our proprietary candidate database.
• Screen candidates for technical fit and motivation, and write clear, honest submittal notes for hiring managers.
• Coordinate interview processes, prepare candidates, gather feedback, and keep every search moving.
• Use modern AI-assisted sourcing tools to research markets and work efficiently.
• Keep pipeline data accurate so clients and teammates always know where a search stands.
• Take on full ownership of searches as you build a track record of placements.

What we're looking for

• 2+ years of recruiting or sourcing experience, ideally for software engineering roles, in an agency or high-growth startup.
• Curiosity about software, AI, and how engineering teams work, and the discipline to learn technical concepts quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication; you can earn the trust of engineers and hiring managers.
• A results orientation: you track your outreach, conversion, and placements, and you want to be measured on outcomes.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, transparent, performance-oriented team.

Nice to have

• Experience recruiting for venture-backed startups.
• Familiarity with ATS and sourcing tools such as RecruiterFlow, Greenhouse, Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, and Gem, plus AI-assisted recruiting workflows.
• Working knowledge of engineering concepts: Python, JavaScript, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and machine learning.
• A technical background or projects you have built yourself.

Compensation & benefits

The base salary for this position is $50,000–$80,000, depending on experience, plus uncapped commission tied to placements. We will walk through the full commission plan during the interview process.
